As picture perfect as can be, stumble down the rabbit hole little llama to see, a whimsical world full of laughter and fun. Oh, what delights Nina Say Cheese have begun! Yep, you bet we’re rhyming. But when we look at Vanessa Lewis’ amazing kids studio photography we really just can’t help ourselves.

And to be be even more honest, well… She started it! In Vanessa’s own choice words, her studio photographs of kids are all about whimsy:

A well kept secret that only a mommy rabbit knows,
is that most little bunnies have 10 scrumptious fingers and toes,
they are soft to the touch and just lovely to kiss,
capturing their sweetness is something you don’t wanna miss!

So document your bunny in a very special way,
by snapping their portrait while they happily play,
in a magical world, enchantingly built,
a lovely guarantee those memories won’t wilt.

Now read that, take a gander at these and we double-llama-dare you not to instantly fall desperately in love with her collection of tea party ballerinas, circus clowns, pilots-in-training and forest critters. Go on. Try.

Vanessa, tell us more about how Nina Say Cheese came to be?
My little girl named Nina Grace was born in 2009 and I’m a lifestyle photographer. She inspired the whole thing! I wanted to photograph her in little sets.

Where did inspiration for each different theme come from?
Well the tea party- my love for Paris and cake! The circus is just a fun setting for both girls and boys, being a pilot is a very boyish playground and the forest was inspired by my love of forest animals and Bambi.

What is your favourite part when taking little ones pictures?
Seeing them enjoying the process – pouring the “tea” etc., playing, imagining and losing themselves in their little worlds.

Are there any challenges when doing kids photography?
Some kids are shy and more withdrawn. I just let them play and relax and don’t force the “look at me and smile”. Once they are playing I click away.

Any tips for MamaLlamas when taking their kids to a studio photoshoot?
Make sure they are rested and book it for after their naps. Also show them pics on the web before and explain what to expect, like they are going to dress up as a clown and make silly funny jokes and eat popcorn! Dress them in clothes that are easy to change out of and clean nails and noses… ha ha!

Now all together with Vanessa and Nina llamas: say cheese!

I'm a lover of the whimsical, the fantastical and all things darling. I believe words carry with them an immense power to shape the imaginary into something tangible and real. In a life reimagined I would probably live life as a talking fox in a woodland fairytale. Either that or I'd be able to crochet llama-hats for little'uns while running my children's bookshop fashioned to Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium. After all, if we don't grow up too much, we'll still believe in faith, hope, love, trust and a pinch of pixie dust...
